We all would have faced some or the other teenager’s skin issues during our times. Teenage age is a transformative period where various hormonal changes occur in a person’s body that further leads to bodily changes and brings acne, scarring and a lot more. All this if not prevented can be managed by a simple skincare routine for teens. But before diving directly into the skincare. Let’s first understand the difference in the skin between a teenager and an adult and why they face more issues than them.
As one enters the teenage their body surprises them with uninvited hormonal changes that activate their oil glands and excessive sebum and clogged pores lead to acne. Most teenagers are susceptible to breakouts. Also, they have a much faster cell turnaround which means their cells recover way faster than an adult.
Teen skin can be a rollercoaster! Acne, oily skin, and excessive sweating are common challenges. But don’t worry, these are normal. Choose the right products – lightweight, non-comedogenic ones, and natural oils like grapeseed or almond. If you’re unsure, a dermatologist can help. Remember, your skin is changing fast, so be gentle and patient. And if you’re sweating a lot, try natural remedies or talk to a doctor.
Although before suggesting any skincare it is essential to understand the skin type and the issues associated with a teenager. But here I will be sharing a generalised skincare that can be followed by any teenager and then add additional products as per the requirements.
Skincare routine for a Teenager
Although before suggesting any skincare it is essential to understand the skin type and the issues associated with a teenager. But here I will be sharing a generalised skincare that can be followed by any teenager and then add additional products as per the requirements.
Cleansing
To keep a teenager’s skincare routine easy breezy I am mentioning the most basic steps. The step to follow is cleansing and th.at to it is advisable to do it twice a day. But why cleanse twice daily? Well, the answer is simple morning cleansing removes dirt, sweat, and oil that accumulate overnight. Evening cleansing removes makeup, dirt, pollutants and other buildups from the day.
So, it is better if the teenager chooses an oil-balancing cleanser as it will help in controlling excess oil production, which further prevents clogged pores and acne. Also choosing cleansers that have natural ingredients like saffron, neem, turmeric and more is good over chemical-based cleansers.
Toning
Toning could be another step to follow cleansing as it helps restore the skin’s pH balance and also tightens the pores. Other than preparing skin for moisturizer it helps in skin irritation prevention and premature ageing.
Moisturising
It is no more a hidden fact that hydrated skin looks healthier, and plumper. And the secret to having that glowing plumper look is to have a good moisturiser. So, it is advisable to invest in a good moisturiser that can help provide hydration and regulate oil production.
Note: A teenager can check their skin type and choose a moisturiser accordingly.
SPF
Sun protection is essential for maintaining healthy skin. A teenager need to understand that even on cloudy days, harmful UV rays can penetrate the skin, leading to sunburn, premature ageing, and even skin cancer. To ensure comprehensive protection, it’s crucial to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen that shields against both UVA and UVB rays. By making daily sunscreen application a habit, you can significantly reduce your risk of sun-related skin damage and enjoy a more radiant complexion.
Conclusion
Teenage is an age where a lot happens in the body. Sometimes it becomes really overwhelming to manage emotions and skincare together. So, in the above skincare steps I have tried to keep them as simple as possible so that a routine can be followed. All the above steps are common to everyone and if a person is suffering from a particular issue it is advisable to pay a visit to a good dermatologist.
